The original idea of Malkia Park was the rescue of Big Cats, which is also based on the name of the OZ - Malkia Park Big Cats Rescue - which was founded as a refuge for animals that for some reason became unnecessary for the original owner, or owners could no longer care for them.

But other animals also needed a new home: such as bears, ungulates, monkeys, … so today we help those who need our helping hand, from a lion to a parrots.

Approximately 270 specimens, 70 different species, gradually found their home on an area of 7.2 ha. The animals come from private individuals/zoos, circuses, or zoos.

Unfortunately, these animals can no longer be released into the wild, and therefore our goal is to create the most natural conditions for them, as similar as possible to those they would have in the wild.

We focus on educational activities, spreading knowledge about the threat of animal species and nature protection, we motivate people to respect and love animals. During the season, during weekends and holidays, we offer free commented feedings as a bonus. We also prepare thematic events for the general public throughout the year.

We are visited by all types of schools, to whom we offer a professional guide of the Park focused not only on the life of animals themselves, but also on the issue of captive animal keeping.

To feed all our animals, we spend approximately: 49,000 kg of meat, 6,000 kg of fruit, 10,000 kg of vegetables, 5,300 kg of fodder and 44,000 kg of hay. Annually, 11,700,000 l (11,700 m3) of water flow through the park to water the animals and to fill the ponds in the enclosures.

By purchasing entrance to the Park, adopting animals, staying in a beautiful thematic guesthouse, buying refreshments, souvenirs,... you support the running of our park and the care of our animals.
