Old Castle was created by rebuilding the Romanesque-Gothic church of the Virgin Mary from the beginning of the 13th century. In the 15th century, the church and cemetery were surrounded by a wall, and in the 1640s, an anti-Turkish fortress was built from it. In the 60s of the 16th century, further modifications were made, and the last major works on the defense complex were carried out in 1777, when the entrance tower was rebuilt. Currently, there are exhibits of the Slovak Mining Museum in the castle.
